AI workflow

Even artificial intelligence is firmly in Eluvian hands

Modern development has long since stopped being just about writing code line by line. We bring tools built on large language models into our everyday work – Claude Code and GitHub Copilot – which help us navigate large codebases faster, generate and review code and automate routine tasks. This lets us devote more time to what really matters: architecture design, quality and the business value of the solution.

No magic happens on its own – behind every Eluvian stands their own license for an agentic development tool. The vast majority of us rely on Claude Code, with GitHub Copilot as the occasional exception. The agent doesn't work in a vacuum either: we all share a ready-made “sandbox”, a virtualized environment where all the supplementary utilities, languages and frameworks it needs are already waiting. And because we've connected it to the key parts of our infrastructure – YouTrack, GitLab, Trello and Sentry – it can handle complex tasks reaching into project management and documentation, even across several projects at once.

To keep the agent from drifting off course, our own set of rules and skills keeps it grounded. We've prepared coding standards, best practices and procedures for technical analysis and review – exactly the boundaries we expect from our developers, too. The responsibility, however, stays right where it belongs: a developer vouches for every line of delivered code, owns their merge request and must be able to defend it in front of the others. A separate review agent then helps us with quality control by enforcing the configured rules in return.

Where production begins, however, artificial intelligence ends. While every step touching the production environment is automated through CI/CD, AI tools never enter it. Production data and sensitive configuration, such as secrets and passwords, are therefore fully shielded from the language models, and the deployment itself remains deterministic – no surprises, no improvisation. We treat AI as an exceptionally capable tool in the hands of an experienced craftsman, not as a replacement for one.
